Physical Education and Sport Government Funding
The Government provides schools with additional funding to improve outcomes in Physical Education (PE) and Sport for all children. At Angram Bank Primary School we believe that physical activity plays an important part of the lives of all our children. Physical Education and Sport is, therefore, Priority 4 of our 2017-18 School Development Plan.
We welcomed the government's announcement to provide additional funding to improve provision of physical education and sport in the academic year 2017-18. We intend to use this additional funding to develop high quality PE lessons, increase the level of physical activity in all children and to provide greater opportunities for a broad range of sporting competitions, festivals and clubs.
The governors at Angram Bank Primary School are committed to providing high quality PE and sporting opportunities to all children to help them develop healthy and active lifestyles. We wish to nurture a lifelong enjoyment of participating in sporting/active activities by offering all children the chance to participate in a wide range of clubs, competitions and festivals.
The following action plan and priorities are taken from the school's School Development Plan (PE - Priority 4). This is a working document and will change to reflect progress and impact made. Please click on the link below:
Evidencing the Impact of Primary PE and Sports Premium 2017-18
In July 2014 Angram Bank Primary School was awarded the Sainsbury's School Games Bronze Kitemark, in recognition of the school's commitment to PE and sport. Our school has enhanced provision as a direct result of the Government PE and Sport additional funding grant. Further information can be obtained via the Sainsbury's School Games website.
The school is fortunate to have magnificent grounds and 2 good size halls in which to enjoy our PE and sport, which is a strength of the school, both as part of the curriculum and in extended learning opportunities. The children have many opportunities to learn new physical skills and games and to take part in sports festivals and also competitive sport. Angram Bank Primary School are active members of the Arches School Sports Partnership and Sheffield Federation for School Sport collaborating with some of our local schools enjoying competitions together. The school has competed in athletics, football, orienteering, boccia, goalball, cricket, gymnastics, basketball, netball, tri-golf, tag rugby, handball and table tennis.
